While the Scholastics of Pune Province go to different houses all over India for their training at various stages of formation, the Province itself is responsible for the Juniorate at Vitthalwadi, Pune, where Juniors from Pune, Bombay, Goa, Gujarat and other provinces come after their Novitiate for further studies.

The Pune Province Juniorate is the outcome of a long process of study discussion and discernment. At the urging of Fr. General the idea of joining hands with the western region provinces of Bombay any Goa to find ways and means to promote inter-province collaboration led to an inter-province cooperation commission (IPCC) being set up for the purpose. One of the major areas that the IPCC considered feasible and necessary was that of Formation. The Pune Province also took up the responsibility of setting up the Juniorate with the assistance of the other western provinces, including Gujurat. It has been a challenging task to provide a programme of formation that meets the needs of students from varied backgrounds, with varying educational qualifications, language abilities and degrees of maturity.
