Jesuits
involved in social action are men who believe 'that the poor can still have
a better life and together we can build a better world'. Realizing how the poor
people we live near and work with actually face their hardships and survive
is an indispensable source for our social action works.
Continuing to 'listen to the cry of the poor', we Jesuits in Social Action,
are directly involved with the struggling masses. Our works involve direct insertion,
awareness generation, analysis, mobilization, empowerment, networking, research,
documentation, publication and policy level intervention.
In Pune Province, our social involvement is primarily directed through the activities
of Social Centre -Ahmedngar, SADDAC - Daund and ITWDP - Sangamner. While watershed
development and related activities in the villages is still the priority, we
also reach out to children on railway platforms and women in villages.
